Liberty Montgomery is many things:
A dutiful daughter.
Perfect wife-in-training.
Easy to manipulate.
Compliant.
But secretly she wants more.
For years, Liberty has dreamed of a life filled with opportunities—a life where she makes the decisions, living by her own rules. Unfortunately, her parents have other plans for her, ones that involve her submission and total obedience. Every attempt to break free from their control is met with threats, leaving her feeling trapped. Just when all seems hopeless, Liberty meets Oliver Nichols. With just two words, be brave, he stirs up her secret longings for more . . . friendship, fun, and independence. He almost has her believing her dreams are possible.
However, taking a stand can be terrifying when you’ve spent your entire life pleasing others. Are some chances worth taking? What would she risk for freedom?
Woah! How in the world can a book be so sexy without the sex? It baffles my mind but it's possible. Trust me, it just happened! And my reading rut...gone! This book had me all sorts of worked up. Poor Liberty was so sheltered and living the way her parents wanted her to live. I felt the urge to hug her and make everything okay. Cue Oliver and I was just as enthralled by him as she was. He was a man with a past not much different than her own. Difference is, he's living his life and she isn't.
At one point, I found myself screaming at Liberty to be strong, to stick up for herself. It hurt to see her be bullied by her family and bow down to them. Oliver gave her the strength to think for herself and not do what everyone else wanted her to do.
The romance between Liberty and Oliver was scorching! It was full of that anticipation that leaves you breathless and begging for more. So many moments that leave you gripping onto the edge of your seat only to have a bucket of ice water dumped on your head. This was intense and full of real problems. I've had a problem connecting to characters lately and this was not the case with this book. The book is appropriately titled since I found myself loving the person that Liberty became. Or should I say the person that was there all along. She just needed that push. Seriously, you need to pick up this book as soon as it comes out.
