This is a different kind of vampire book than what I have read before. It is semi-dark and gritty but yet beautiful in the story telling.
You have Mia who is in love with Oliver you could pretty much classify them as soul mates. When Oliver ends up working for the "new rich" guy Mr. Beckert who has moved into town things start changing. Then when Mia meets Mr. Breckt for the first time she seems to be put under a spell of his. Which of course makes Oliver just plain pissed. I mean who wouldn't be pissed if another man especially one who seems to be so good looking has your girl ogling at him right in front of you. And Mr. Breckt seems to have no shame in doing this in front of Oliver.
Mia has an attraction to Mr. Breckt and no matter how much she loves Oliver and tells herself she doesn't want Mr. Breckt she can not help but think of him every minute of the day.
Mr. Breckt wants Mia for him self, and he will go to whatever links he can to make sure she wants him too. Even if that means doing the worse things possible to Mia and those around her. He seems to get off on torture both mentally and physically but yet he seems to have some patience with Mia if only for a little bit.
Mia does not have a clue what Mr. Breckt is until the middle part of the end and let's just say she is not happen with the outcome that happens. There is vengeance, death, obsession, love everything that makes a great vampire story this book has it.
I can not wait to read more in this installment as I want to know what will happen with Mia and Mr. San and of course the Queen!
