I really didn't know what to expect when I started reading Dear Emily. What I thought was going to be a simple story turned out to be this complex story leading up to this insanely bittersweet ending. Each chapter flip flops between the two main characters, past and present. Carly and Tabitha and from two very different backgrounds but both have some terribly horrific things happen to them. I felt for these characters every step of the way. I kept wondering what happened to Carly to bring them to today, to seeking an adoption. With each chapter, I felt like this could have the potential to shatter me into pieces. I get to 80% and I have to stop myself. It hurts to get closer to the end because someone will be left with a broken heart...including me. I gave it a week and decided to pick it up again. I can do this. I have to know what happens. AGH just so many things that no one should ever have to endure. It hits me like a sucker punch to the gut. Man, contemporary is so hard to read. It feels so real because this stuff does happen. It was tragically beautiful, raw and unforgiving. My emotions just cant take tall of this at once. I'm going to go hug my little boy now :::sniffles:::
