Genre: YA
Natasha Shelby can’t think of anything worse than being stuck in dreary Shackleston for the summer. School is over, and while her friends plot their escapes to university, and her family holiday without her in Portugal, Natasha feels left behind. Is she the only girl in the world without a plan? Desperate to find a new challenge and conquer the boredom of a slow summer, she decides to help out at the Castle, where her old friend Juniper is rebuilding her home.
But Natasha gets more than she bargained for. She’s convinced there are secrets hiding behind the Castle walls, and she’s determined to get to the truth. Why does she feel as though there are eyes watching her, whenever she’s on the Castle grounds? What is Juniper’s weird Aunt hiding? And where on earth is Lucy Creed? The more she digs, the more she uncovers and nothing is as it seems.
And Natasha has secrets of her own...
The Embers of Juniper Slaide is the explosive sequel to The Burning of Juniper Slaide and the second book in the trilogy.
Rating:
I would highly recommend you read book one before you read this one. As I was reading I found myself to be a bit confused on what exactly was going on because of the fact it had been a while since I read book one. I kept trying to figure out what Natasha had to do with everything and finally I was able to piece everything together. I believe this to be a book that you read right after the first one.
So school is out and Natasha is not ready for her family to move on without her. The way she treated her mom I couldn't understand why until the very end. Then it all made sense to me.
When Natasha dumps her friends she plans on getting close to Juniper, yet you know there has to be an underlining reason.
As we move through out the story I was surprised how trusting Juniper was of Natasha especially since Natasha kept wanting Juniper not to see the work that she was "doing," along with putting off a weird vibe. With Natasha being at the castle she uncovers a lot of different things, on top of that it seems that one person must have survived the fire and will that be a good thing or bad?
We have what is going on with Natasha lets throw in the doctor. He is taken care of someone who he is keeping secret but we know that secrets never last long. This doctor is seeming to be a bit shady.
I really don't know what else to write because I feel as though I would be giving something of importance away. Like I said at the beginning please read the first book before you read this one, as it is very important.
