I love anything to do with werewolves and the paranormal. Not sure what attracts me to read them but once I find myself engaged within the story it is hard for me to put down.
With Frostbitten the story line was good. You have Anastasia who is a trouble teenager that lives with her mom. Her mother decides that it may be best to stay with her grandparents for a while and to see if that will straighten her up but she gets more than she bargains for.
Of course Anastasia isn’t too thrilled about it all but she knows that with a new town she can make a good impression or at least she hopes to.
But when does that ever work out for anyone. This is a coming of age story and Anastasia deals with bullying, first love and coming to know who she is as a person along with the unexpected paranormal.
The characters weren’t very complete to me. Kate who believes that the town is hers is jealous of Anastasia and I didn’t understand why. Anastasia wasn’t completely described to me so I didn’t know if the hatred was for looks or just because it was a new girl in town.
Anastasia and her relationship with Frost who seems like a decent guy didn’t click with me. It seemed I guess the word I would use is rushed. Now they didn’t jump each others bones but it was like that didn’t really get to know one another before they started dating. Yes I know the whole crush scene happens but it didn’t click.
I think the author could have used more of a character build up so we really got to know the characters. And make the plot more than open ended. I felt Anastasia’s behavior toward certain things such as how Frost acted didn’t seem real enough. I think if my boyfriend wasn’t talkative I would make him talk. Not sit there and wonder if he thought I was pretty or whatever.
I do wonder if this book will continue on as a series maybe? I felt that the way some of the characters acted such as Julia which when you read you will find out who that is, was mysterious. The whole scene within the nursing home something felt off there but it was never elaborated on. It is really hard to describe in words how the book seemed off in spots, and I am sitting here racking my brain on how to put it in words. Maybe it will come to me at a later time.
Overall good story. Just needs more character building, the way people act or comment needs to be straighten out so it seems real, and to try not to add more mysterious things to the story line unless you will be building up on it to give answer or to put out another book. Which I do hope that happens so maybe then some questions or why did this happen or why was this said or acted out is answered especially for me.
