Review: The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen

Adult Contemporary Romance
**Mature Content Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual situations and language**

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

My Review

I don't think my review will do this book any justice. Yes, I know, I say that quite often. I'll start with the two main characters. Ella went away to school to try and get away from horrible memories at home. She changed her entire image by dressing like, what I would call, a "preppy girl." You know the type...wears a lot of pink with skirts and what not. A total 180 from her old look. She used to have a grunge/goth look with the attitude to go with it. She comes back to her home town after 8 months with no contact with anyone, including her best friend, Micha. Oh, Micha. I'll get back to Ella because I'm completely obsessed with Micha. Micha has been searching and pinning for Ella since she disappeared. Like Ella, his life has not been a walk in the park. His father left him and his mother when he was just a young boy. They both have baggage. When Ella returns, Micha almost doesn't recognize her. He's determined to bring the old Ella back. And oh God, that lip ring. Can I have Micha please??

 My thoughts...

OH LORD...how do I begin to describe how much I loved this book? It was recommended to me by fellow book blogger, Delphina. I was stoked when Jessica Sorensen asked if I would be interested in reviewing it. I have been hearing such great things and I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype. I have not read such an awesome Adult Contemporary Romance since Preservation by Rachael Wade. This book was absolutely fantastic!! When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. Ella's spunk reminds me a lot like myself. Character growth makes me a happy camper and Ella finally started to work out her issues and be herself.

Jessica Sorensen normally writes YA paranormal. I'm a huge YA fan because it's all about anticipation. I find that adult novels can be a little much when it comes to sex. I like the build up and think it makes for a better read. Jessica frickin delivered!! There was so much sexual tension between Ella and Micha that you could cut that shit with a butter knife! I swear, it's like Jessica was sitting there with a $100 bill on a fishing pole just dangling it in my face. Whenever I would go to grab it, she would snatch it away leaving me feeling wanting. HOLY HELL, this book was smokin' I can't say enough about it. I also love that it was written in alternating POV's. I loved reading what Micha had to say :-) I am so excited that there will be another book!! Needless to say, I will be a forever fan of Jessica's! If you have not read it yet, you need to.
