Go the Fuck to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don't always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, California Book Award-winning author Adam Mansbach's verses perfectly capture the familiar -- and unspoken -- tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night. In the process, he opens up a conversation about parenting, granting us permission to admit our frustrations and laugh at their absurdities.
With illustrations by Ricardo Cortes, Go the Fuck to Sleep is beautiful, subversive and pants-wettingly funny, a book for parents new, old and expectant. You probably should not read it to your children.

My Review:
The whole book reminds me of an adult lullaby, not the kind that you would tell to a child. I happen to be one of those fortunate parents whose child doesn't put up much of a fight to go to sleep. But, there are those occasions where you are just flat-out exhausted. It's one of those situations that I don't think you would understand unless you are a parent. This book is a perfect example of how I feel in those moments. It was highly entertaining. If you have/had small children, this is a MUST READ!! Hell, even if you don't have kids it's still a funny book.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to review this book for the blog because of several reasons. HELLOOO, look at the title. I was trying to steer clear of profanity, just in case there are younger readers looking at the blog. I've been good, I swear! I cuss like a sailor and it has definitely been a challenge to not swear when writing my reviews. I think I'm entitled to at least one inappropriate post a month, right? :-) I was also a little weary about adult posts. I wasn't sure if publishers would reject review requests based on some of the adult posts. Not that it matters right now, I was rejected several times of ARC copies. That's okay though, I'm still a newbie. But just so we're clear, this isn't a YA exclusive blog. I like to read a lot of different books based on my mood. I just so happen to prefer Young Adult novels.
There is a kid friendly version of the book called "Seriously, Just Go to Sleep"
