My Review

Cassie's day starts off like any normal day, passing notes with her friend in class. She notices a man outside of the classroom window and he looks like he may have been in an accident. His skin is a grayish tone and his clothes are bloody and torn. He breaks the window, startling the teens. Their teacher tries to scare the man off with her yardstick and she gets hurt in the process. Men show up, armed with guns and shoot the man. The school is now in a panic with these gray skinned people eating everyone. Somewhere along the way, Cassie is infected. She doesn't turn immediately like the rest of the zombies.

After leaving the school, Cassie sets off on her own. She meets another woman who has been infected but not yet changed. They agree to accompany each other, to where, they don't know quite yet. They meet more people on the way.

I don't want to spoil too much so I will stop there.

I was hooked immediately after reading the prologue. I found it disturbingly hilarious. I really hope that it was meant to be that way or I will feel pretty twisted for finding it comical lol. I haven't read many zombie books, but this one was extremely refreshing.  I enjoyed reading Cassie's experience before and after her turn. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it! I must say, the epilogue was just as entertaining as the prologue. It kinda leaves it open for another book... hint, hint, Emily :-)

Review: Cosmo's Fifty-One Shades of Blonde by Jessica Knoll

***Not suitable for readers under the age of 18***
Erotic Romance

The sexy story that first burned up the pages of Cosmopolitan is here—with three new chapters that are so hot they may steam up your screen Christopher Reiss is the handsome and extremely intimidating CEO of a major financial firm. Megan’s nothing but a lowly assistant. But when she stumbles upon some incriminating evidence that could threaten Christopher’s career, she finds herself on his radar . . . and eventually his desk, his kitchen counter, his bed . . . you get where this is going, right?

My Review

Megan is an assistant at a finance firm. She goes out to one of her local hang outs with her friend and sees the CEO of her company there. He happens to be with a mob boss and Megan wonders if the rumors about him being mob-connected are true. She heads out, hoping that her boss doesn't spot her. Megan works late one evening and gets a call from the CEO, Christopher. He tells her to see him in her office and he accuses her of leaking a story to the press about his mob connection. Of course, Megan had nothing to do with "said story" and she tells that to Christopher. One thing leads to another and they have a steamy, passionate romp right there in his office.

Megan was telling the truth when she said she didn't leak the story about his mob connections, but that didn't stop her from doing some digging to write a new piece on the allegations. While working on the piece, she gets a text from Christopher. He comes by her apartment and they have another hot sex session. After Christopher leaves, she realizes that he saw her article on him and he deleted the entire content.

I wont go any further considering it is a short story.

I was really excited when I was contacted to review this story. I'm a huge fan of Cosmopolitan magazine and my favorite part is the stories in the back of the magazine. I read the first few chapters of this one a few months ago, but my TBR list is massive and I simply forgot to follow up on it. I have never read Fifty Shades of Grey, but I can see where there would be some similarities. Christopher is very dominant when it comes to the sex scenes in the book. He tells Megan how he wants it, and it's frickin' hot! The book was also a bit of a thriller. I didn't know what to expect and I was a bit shocked with the outcome. I enjoyed this the first time around and I am stoked to have finished it. If you want a quick, sexy read, this book is definitely worth it!

Review and Guest Post: The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Has A Crush by Jaimie Hope

Children
From the minute she met him everyone thought Baby Jaimie's first crush was Derek. Derek even thought so. That's why he asked her first grade teacher, Mrs. Smith if he could come visit her. The day of the visit didn't go as planned. While Derek was introducing himself a new student, Jack, entered the room and stole everyone's attention. Especially Baby Jaimie's. For that reason Derek took an instant disliking to the new kid. Baby Jaimie is forced to choose between Derek and Jack and she doesn't know what to do. Is there a way to combine old friends with new friends? Can't they all just get along? Find out in The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Has A Crush.

My Review Baby Jaimie was excited that her friend Derek was coming to her class for show and tell. Derek told the class about his first meeting with Baby Jaimie. The other children asked Derek if he would do a wheelie in his wheelchair. Their presentation was cut short when a new boy arrived to class. Baby Jaimie was trying to accommodate the boy because the other children weren't as kind. This made her friend Derek a bit jealous. This was an excellent story. It's very true to life when it comes to children. Truth be told, some children may laugh at others that are different than themselves. This is the case with Baby Jaimie's new classmate, Jack. She goes out of her way to make her new friend feel comfortable in his new class. This causes some jealousy from her friend Derek. These are all trials that we may have faced one time or another. It also teaches about acceptance, which is an extremely important thing for children to learn. I would highly recommend this book for any school age child. You're never too old to learn a lesson.

Guest Post
By now I would hope you all are familiar with me, but for those of you who may not be, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jaimie Hope and although I've written books in different genres I consider myself to be a children's author first and foremost. My series, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie, revolves around a disabled main character, Baby Jaimie. The character and most of the story lines are based on my own experiences growing up with Spina Bifida. For that reason, people assume writing the series is easy. You know what they say about assuming, don't you? Well, that would definitely be the case here as well. Writing for children isn't as easy as it looks. While it may be true that most picture books contain a few pages of actual text that doesn't mean it's easy. In fact, only having a few pages to get your point across is what makes it hard. Also, you can't use the same language when writing for children as you can for young adults and adults. The words need to be kept simple, but not so simple that it appears the author is talking down to the audience. That is a tough balance to strike. I have been told, privately by one reviewer that Baby Jaimie's voice doesn't sound very childlike. I personally didn't see this as true, but I will say this, that one comment made me focus so much more on Baby Jaimie's dialogue in this book. I think I've done a fair job, but I'll let you decide. If you've read my book, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Has A Crush I await your opinion. I can be reached directly by email at JaimieHope@JaimieHope.com. If you'd like to keep up with what I'm doing feel free to connect with me.

About Jaimie
Jaimie Hope was born November 3, 1976 in New York. It wasn't until high school, where she joined the newspaper staff, that she decided she wanted to be a writer. After graduation, writing was put aside for a while. The author went to college and received an Associates degree in 1999. Then she moved to Florida where she was an active volunteer in the local historical society and remained active in the arts. It wasn't until 2005 that Jaimie wrote her first children's book, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie, published in 2006 and Who Says You Can"t Go Home? in 2008. The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Goes to School in 2010. Her Autobiography, Roll With It followed by the third volume in her children's series, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Gets Stage Fright, and her first Paranormal Romance, When You Come Back To Me Again were released in 2011. Finally, The Adventures of Baby Jaimie: Baby Jaimie Has a Crush was released in 2012. What's next for this author? Currently, she has the fifth volume in the Baby Jaimie series under contract and a couple novels are also in the works.

Review: Onyx by Jennifer Armentrout

YA Paranormal Romance

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My Review

Do not read this review if you have not read Obsidian.

I am going to try my hardest to make this a spoiler free review.

I would hate to spoil the story for anyone because it is just that good.

Katy has had a an odd connection with Daemon since he healed her. She believes it to be the reason why Daemon is always hot for her. If you enjoyed the laptop scene in Obsidian, you will frickin' love Onyx!! There are a lot more romance scenes with Daemon and Katy :::wags eyebrows:: Now don't go getting all excited, or do, I did LOL. There is somewhat of a love triangle in Onyx. I say somewhat because there is no competition haha. The newbie on the scene is Blake, Katy's hot new classmate. I'm not going to go into any more details on that front, you will have to read this juicy goodness for yourself.

Moving on...

Katy believes she sees someone that was believed to be dead. The suspense was damn near killing me!! Katy discovers some new talents and information on Dawson's death. I need to stop there. I'm bouncing all over the place and now I cannot concentrate. How do you do this to me, Jennifer?!

I'm having the hardest time writing this review. Is it possible to have loved a book so much that I can't even form a coherent sentence? This book deserves a phenomenal review that I just cannot give at this present time. I was grinning like a kid on Christmas the entire time I was reading!! Jennifer writes such steamy scenes that it would make any girl swoon. I mean seriously, I was panting and drooling....not a good look on me. Jennifer Armentrout rocks my socks off! I would totally have her babies LOL

I NEED OPAL NOW!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and here is the SEXY Onyx trailer!!

Desperate to escape her mother’s matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan—buy some lingerie and climb into her boss’s bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead.

Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper on his mood, Gabe’s never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?

My Review

Elle is a straight and narrow type of girl. She always follows the rules and never does anything brash. Elle has always had a "thing" for her boss and decides that she wants to take things to the next level. Her plan is to go to Nathans house and seduce him. She climbs into his bed and attempts to seduce him. Little does she know, the man in bed is not Nathan, but his brother Gabe. MMMmmmMMM Gabe :-) Anyway, they get hot and heavy and when he speaks, Elle finally hears that his voice is not Nathans. She freaks out and turns on the light, confirming that the man is indeed, not Nathan.

Gabe can see that Elle isn't like any other woman that he's every been with. After her little freak out, Gabe asks his brother for advice about Elle. He goes to her job to ask her out to lunch. Gabe is not the type of man that Elle is looking for, but she agrees to go with him. They go to a local favorite of Gabe's and it repulses Elle, further confirming her suspicions of him being a bad boy.  But Elle can't seem to shake the sexual tension she feels towards Gabe after that night in bed.

I don't want to go too far into the story because I hate giving spoilers. The tension between Gabe and Elle is STEAMY!! Woah, baby! I made the mistake of reading part of this book at work... shame on me, haha. I mean, come on, the book is steamy from the very first chapter. Mama likey! The scenes are not overly raunchy, which was great for me. It's full of real life conflicts. You will read why Elle has a hard time trusting men, especially the kind that look like Gabe. Oh hot, sexy, infuriating Gabe. Can I borrow him? Seriously, I'll give him back, I promise. He enjoys ticking off Elle at times because he likes the reaction he gets from her. Wrong Bed, Right Guy is also very funny at times. There are a few times that I would have spewed my drink if I were in fact drinking something. Holy potatoes, this book was HOT HOT HOT!! It was perfect and I really enjoyed reading it.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good contemporary romance.
